General Information

  • When you get to campus for the ceremonies, please park along Main Street in front of the campus. We will check you in when you park.
  •  Everyone must wear a mask at all times while on campus.
  • Campus buildings, including restrooms, are NOT open to guests. Only students and employees can enter campus buildings.
  • Each graduate will receive two bags from the University at check-in. One will be refreshments and one will include gifts from the University.
  • Cars participating in the drive through will line up along Main Street facing west.
  • There will be signs to show you where to park.
  • There is only room for two cars at the stage’s location; therefore, only two cars per graduate.
  • Only the graduate exits the car during the graduation procession.
  • All family members must stay in the car during the ceremony.
  • Graduates must wear the cap and gown ordered through the University when they walk across the stage to receive their diploma cover from the President.
  • You will have a name card – you will give the name card to Dr. Williams on stage so that she will be able to read your name.
  • Graduates will not shake hands with anyone on stage.
  • There will be a photographer capturing all the important moments of the day. The campus will make those photos available to you later this spring.

Graduation Details

  • The event will be held at noon May 1.
  • Graduates will park on Main Street and move up and round the corner onto Brown Street.
  • The stage will be in front of McKinney Hall.
  • As each graduate arrives at the outdoor stage, they will exit their vehicle and walk across the stage while wearing a face covering to be recognized and receive their diploma cover from the President.
  • The cars will continue back around the block and will be able to park in the Student Union Parking Lot so the graduate can ring the bell that is located in the center of campus, a tradition at UPT.
  • As students walk across the stage one at a time, their families will follow alongside them in their vehicles.
  • Faculty and staff dressed in their regalia and wearing face coverings, will stand along the route to congratulate the graduates.
  • The event will be held rain or shine.
  • The event will be livestreamed on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel.
  •  In addition, nursing students will be able to get pictures being pinned by a family member by the photographer following the ceremony near the bell.

Nursing Pinning:

  • The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. May 1, in Boomer's inside the McKinney Commons Building.
  • Please arrive by 9:45 a.m.
  • To ensure that we maintain physical distancing, the event will be open only to nursing graduates and faculty members, who will be wearing face coverings.
  • The event will be livestreamed on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel.
  • The ceremony will include remarks from speakers, awards presentations, and the students will receive their nursing pins. Nursing students can place their regalia in the Game Room during the Pinning Ceremony and use that area to robe for Commencement.
